Do I need to supplement
Here at onePT we always want to promote a food first approach and our message is that good nutrition starts at home
- Use fresh ingredients and good local produce
- Cook from scratch and no processed foods
- Good quality lean protein choices including vegetarian options
- A variety of veg and some fruit
However with our busy lifestyles we appreciate that we may not always be able to get all the nutrients we need from our food and therefore on occasions we may need to supplement – although supplementation should not be at the expense of our diet – aim to boost your intake of vitamins and minerals naturally from whole grains and also fruit and veg.
Nevertheless please find a list of products that we suggest may help your journey here at onePT
- Impact whey protein. If you’re looking for lower calorie options the clear way isolate is a great option and mixes well with water. MyProtein also do a diet version of impact whey! Having a protein shake or adding protein to your cereal or yoghurt is a great way to help you achieve your daily protein requirements
- Instant oats – can be used to create a nice breakfast smoothie (please be careful with portion control)
- Multi-vitamin
- Omega-3 Fish oils – fish oils are proven to reduce muscle soreness, promote muscle growth, reduce inflammation and boost immune function
- Vitamin D – especially if we are not getting sufficient sunlight (more relevant in the Winter months) – 15 minutes per day is recommended
