John Carroll is a personal trainer and strength coach at onePT, dedicated to helping individuals improve strength, endurance, and overall fitness. With years of experience in strength and conditioning, weight loss, and performance coaching, John provides tailored training programs based on scientific principles to ensure sustainable results.
From Corporate Leadership to Fitness Expertise
John’s passion for fitness started at 15. Although he secured a place on the Science & Football degree at Liverpool John Moores University, he pursued a corporate career at Asda, where he worked for 13 years and became a Transport Department Manager. However, his love for health and fitness led him to retrain as a personal trainer and strength coach, earning a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training, as well as qualifications in Exercise Referral (Level 3) and Obesity & Diabetes Management (Level 4).
Advanced Strength and Conditioning Knowledge
John has developed his expertise in strength training and performance coaching, with advanced certifications including:
- Level 4 Strength & Conditioning – enhancing athletic performance and injury prevention
- Hatton Academy Boxing Certification – integrating boxing drills into training
- Precision Nutrition Level 1 – helping clients improve nutrition and weight management
- MNU Certificate in Nutrition (in progress) – furthering his expertise in sports nutrition
John uses a scientific, evidence-based approach to training, ensuring each client gets a personalised plan suited to their goals.
Performance and Charity Challenges
John leads by example, taking on endurance events to challenge himself and raise funds for charities including Sarcoma UK, Springhill Hospice, and Children with Cancer UK. His achievements include:
- Manchester and London Marathons
- Total Warrior Ultra and a 100 km treadmill ultra
- Route 66 Challenge – covering 3,669.8 km in a year
- Manchester to Liverpool Ultra
